BIO
Rebecca Manseau, soprano, will sing Mimì in La Bohème at the Ducal Palace of Urbania with conductor John Massaro at the Festival of International Opera in summer 2025 and perform Tatiana (Eugene Onegin) and Mimì (La Bohème) in scenes with the North Czech Philharmonic under the direction of Norbert Baxa during the masterclass of Eva Randová at the European Music Academy in Teplice, Czech Republic. She will be seen in concert at the International Music Festival of Peter Dvorský, singing Dvořák’s Rusalka and selections from the composer’s Biblical Songs. Rebecca joins the Neil Semer Vocal Institute in summer 2025 and returns to Germany to cover roles and sing in the ensemble of Der Freischütz with Landesbühnen Sachsen.
Recent performance highlights include the title role in Suor Angelica at the historic state theater of Georgia, the Springer Opera House, under the baton of Paul Hostetter and concert works, featuring song repertoire from Duparc, Puccini, Verdi, Rachmaninoff, Barber, and Wolf, as well as opera gala scenes as Agathe (Der Freischütz) and Tatiana (Eugene Onegin). On the European stage, she has been recently seen as Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) at the Teatro Bramante in Italy; in January 2025, she sang arias from Rusalka, Carmen, and Don Giovanni in the Slovak State Opera’s New Year’s Concert in Banská Bystrica. Previously, she performed Richard Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder in a lecture recital at the Schwob School of Music.
Rebecca has been recognized on the international stage for her artistry, receiving prizes and contracts from the Gabriela Beňačková International Vocal Competition and the Slovak State Opera and recently having been selected for the Cascais Opera International Voice Competition. In addition to first prizes from the Atlanta Opera Guild, NATS, SERNATS, and the Charleston International Romantic Music Competition, she has been a district competitor in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and a finalist in the International Music Grand Prix and the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist award. She has received career development awards from the Atlanta Opera Guild and the NATS Dillard Scholar fund.
She holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University and an M.A. in Political Science from the Freie Universität Berlin. She graduated summa cum laude with undergraduate degrees in Politics and German from Sewanee: The University of the South and researched German-European refugee policy as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar before transitioning to an operatic career.
Rebecca has studied with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf legacy singers Martina Rüping and Gail Dubinbaum, as well as American tenor Dr. Joshua May. She has participated in masterclasses with W. Stephen Smith, Eva Randová, Jennifer Larmore, Sergei Leiferkus, Anna Samuil, Aleksandar Nikolic, Jorge Balca, Eva Mei, and Ernesto Palacio.
